Marc Andreessen: AI is entering the meme era and real-world humor

At the Cisco AI Summit conference, venture capitalist Marc Andreessen shared interesting insights about Moltbook, a social network designed for AI agents. He believes that most science fiction novels depict AI as either utopian or dystopian, but overlook a rapidly emerging trait: humor. In reality, AI and humans are turning everything into meme material, creating an online culture that is both fun and bizarre.

According to Andreessen, Moltbook is now flooded with so many humorous memes that it’s very difficult to distinguish what’s real from what’s fake. He cited an example where an AI agent on the platform decided to establish an “AI religion,” even hiring a real person to go around the streets of San Francisco to promote and practice this new religion, blurring the lines between the digital world and real life.
