Artificial Intelligence Infrastructure Specialist Company Nebius Decides to Acquire Israeli AI Search Startup Tavily, Drawing Industry Attention. This acquisition aims to obtain core technology for autonomous AI agents and is expected to once again shake up the AI infrastructure market landscape.

Although the terms of the deal have not been disclosed, Israeli media Calcalist reports that Nebius will initially pay $275 million (approximately 3.96 trillion KRW) to acquire Tavily, and has reached an agreement that, based on future performance, the acquisition amount could be increased to $400 million (approximately 5.76 trillion KRW).

Tavily is an emerging company founded in 2024, dedicated to developing search infrastructure that allows large language models to access real-time data and perform analysis and judgment based on it. Unlike traditional search APIs, Tavily’s solution directly inserts structured data into the context window of LLMs, significantly reducing hallucinations and outdated responses. With this differentiated advantage, Tavily has successfully secured well-known clients such as Cohere, IBM, MongoDB, Groq, AWS, LangChain, and Monday.com.

This acquisition also aligns with Nebius’s business expansion strategy. Originally spun off from Russian search engine company Yandex, Nebius achieved rapid growth by providing data center infrastructure services for AI computing. Profiting from leasing high-performance AI GPU resources, Nebius has recently accelerated building an integrated service covering the entire AI agent development and operation process through its AI Studio platform.

Roman Chernin, co-founder and Chief Business Officer of Nebius, stated, “Our goal is not only to provide infrastructure but to build a platform capable of creating complete AI products and services. Tavily’s technological strength is a key piece in realizing this vision.”

In fact, through this acquisition, Nebius is laying the foundation for developers to integrate real-time search functions into enterprise AI agents without the need to assemble tools from multiple vendors. Given that AI systems cannot be practically applied to business operations without a solid foundation in real-time information, Tavily’s technology is regarded as not just a supplement but a core component.

Nebius’s future strategy is to strengthen its market position by integrating AI infrastructure and agent technology, differentiating itself from competitors. The addition of Tavily is expected to inject new momentum into this vision.
