On February 7, Jin10 Data reported that amid speculation about the fate of U.S. Steel (X.N), President Trump reportedly had a meeting with the company’s CEO, Dave Burritt, at the White House. The day after, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba will visit Washington for a meeting with Trump. In January of this year, Nippon Steel’s acquisition proposal for U.S. Steel was rejected by then-President Biden. U.S. Steel rose 3.6% in New York on Thursday, closing at $39.27, still 29% below Nippon Steel’s offer of $55 per share.
