Brazilian Competition Authority (CADE) has ordered Meta to suspend its WhatsApp Business API policy, which blocks third-party AI chatbots such as OpenAI and Microsoft. Currently, CADE is investigating this policy, which will take effect on January 15, to determine whether it unfairly favors Meta's AI and harms market competition. Previously, the EU and Italy also took similar antitrust actions. Meta stated that the reason for this policy change is due to system overload and claimed that the API is designed to support enterprise customers.
