Negotiations on the US Crypto Market Structure Act continue and may be delayed until January next year
Odaily Planet Daily reports that negotiations in the U.S. Senate over the Crypto Market Structure Act have not resolved multiple disagreements and may be delayed until January of next year to make substantive progress. The legislative text has been privately circulated among industry insiders, and industry executives briefly reviewed the current draft at a White House meeting on Thursday, hosted by President Donald Trump’s crypto advisor Patrick Witt. The negotiations involve Senate Democrats, Republicans, the White House, and the crypto industry, with four major disagreements still to be resolved. These disagreements include ethical standards for government officials’ involvement in digital assets, especially regarding President Donald Trump’s participation, whether stablecoins should be tied to yields, and the SEC’s authority over tokens and its handling of decentralized finance (DeFi). Patrick Witt posted on X platform that the White House and Senate Republicans are “aligned in protecting the needs of software developers and DeFi.” Despite the disagreements, the intensity and pace of negotiations remain high. Cody Carbone, CEO of Digital Chamber, stated that all parties have genuine desire and motivation to complete the legislation, and tangible progress is expected in early next year.
