The first TV debate of the 2024 US presidential election has ended.
According to Jinse Finance, the first televised debate for the 2024 US presidential election, involving current Democratic President Biden and former Republican President Trump, took place in Atlanta on the evening of the 27th local time. The debate lasted about 90 minutes, with the two discussing issues such as the US economy, immigration, abortion, as well as the Russia-Ukraine conflict and the Israeli-Palestinian situation. In response to the immigration issue, Biden criticized the family separation policy implemented during Trump’s presidency, while Trump accused the Biden administration of failing to ensure the security of the US southern border, resulting in criminals entering the country. Regarding the January 6th Capitol riot, Biden claimed that Trump encouraged his supporters to go to the Capitol that day, while Trump denied responsibility for the riot. On the Israeli-Palestinian issue, Biden stated that the ceasefire agreement he promoted includes the exchange of detainees and is a sustained ceasefire with additional conditions. When asked whether he supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state to support regional peace, Trump did not give a direct answer. According to US media reports, their second debate will be held on September 10th.
