Golden Finance reported that Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF), former CEO of FTX, tweeted for the first time after two years of silence. In these tweets, SBF mainly discussed issues related to company layoffs and management:

  1. I have a lot of empathy for government employees: I haven’t checked my email for several (hundred) days either. And I can confirm that being unemployed is not as easy as it looks.
  2. Dismissing an employee is one of the most difficult things to do in the world. It is terrible for all parties involved. In my experience: a) Employees are usually not at fault when they are dismissed b) But it is usually the right decision to dismiss them.
  3. Most of the time, the problem lies in the fact that the company simply does not have suitable positions for them.
  4. I will say to each person who is fired: This is also our fault because we did not provide them with the right position, or the right manager, or the right working environment.
  5. Maybe we just didn’t have anyone available to manage them at the time. Maybe they are more suitable for remote work, but our company adopts face-to-face communication. Maybe they want to work on a specific project, but it’s not what the company needed at the time.
  6. Or perhaps there are problems within the department they are in.
  7. This situation does occur. We see that the competitor has hired 30,000 more employees, but then they don’t know what to do with them — as a result, the whole team is idle all day.
  8. We have also encountered this situation internally, where half of the department loses direction when a manager becomes busy or distracted.
  9. When this happens, it’s not the fault of the employees. If the employer doesn’t know how to arrange them, or there is no one to manage them effectively, it’s not their fault. If internal politics causes their department to deviate from the course, it’s also not their fault.
  10. But it makes no sense to let them stay there and do nothing.
