Odaily Planet Daily News: Chainalysis released a research report showing that in 2025, state activities tracked in the cryptocurrency field have increased significantly. Illegal organizations are now operating large-scale on-chain infrastructure to help transnational criminal networks acquire goods and services, and launder their illegally obtained cryptocurrencies. Data shows that illegal cryptocurrency transactions in 2025 reached at least $154 billion. This represents a 162% increase from the previous year, mainly due to a 694% surge in amounts received by sanctioned entities. However, even if amounts received by sanctioned entities remained flat year-over-year, 2025 would still be a record year for cryptocurrency crime, as activity across most illegal crime categories has increased. Additionally, stablecoins dominate the illegal transaction space, currently accounting for 84% of all illegal transaction volume.
